Though initially skeptical, this movie felt truly nostalgic whilst also having elements of something new. It tied in nicely to the original animated movies, as well as the love action Lion King. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Though initially the trailer posed some questions- how did Mufasa become king without the bloodline, why are there lions in the snow etc? The movie itself wiped away all confusion and did a fantastic job of showing the emotional complexity of how Taka became Scar due to various influences, and how love between two brothers was lost. The music was so nostalgic, using original songs as well as new ones, and moments in the movie which foreshadowed the events of the first (since this is a prequel) were heart wrenching too. Beautifully done.
