Don’t pay too much attention to the purists, personally, I find their criticism a bit excessive. It's like when someone asks which movie adaptation is better, and the response is always 'the book is superior', it often feels more like an attempt to elevate their own sense of cultural superiority. The series is incredibly entertaining, with excellent acting, well-developed characters, and solid direction. It's definitely one of the top three series of the year, and I highly recommend watching it. I’m eagerly anticipating season 2. While the title may not fully capture the essence of the original film, it doesn’t take away from the series' quality. If you’re looking for historical accuracy, watch a World War II documentary. But if you want to be entertained, this is the one to watch.

The story is interesting, and the actors deliver strong performances, but the directing is a major letdown. At times, it feels like a low-budget Guy Ritchie knockoff and almost a parody. Many scenes drag on unnecessarily, offering little to the plot. I just watched The Day of the Jackal and would highly recommend it over this. The Agency is great too, but unfortunately, I've already seen the original The Bureau twice—it’s the greatest spy series of all time, and I can't bring myself to rewatch the same plot. Black Doves has been a huge disappointment so far. It's incredibly slow and lacking in excitement. Basically watching this because there is nothing else left.
