I would give this show 3 1/2 stars. I was looking for a feel good show where I could be absorbed in the plot and characters which I did. I binged watched season 1 before bed 3 nights in a row. I was actually surprised when I realized I was on the last episode (episode 10).
I got a hint of “soap opera” at times - which is why I didn’t give it 5/5. The acting overall is good - I really like Tim Matheson I think he’s a great actor (loved him since Animal House). Jack and Mel are great too. However, I started to get annoyed with Hope’s (Anne O’Toole) character in the last 2 or 3 episodes. Seemed like she always chasing / storming after someone like a little kid.
I have to admit I was pretty thrown off in episode 1 or 2? - the episode that was centered around Chloe / Lily. It ended up basically being a one episode story and that was the end of it. I was expecting more (like Mel fostering her) - not that I wanted more. This made me think each episode would have it’s own scenario that wasn’t necessarily continued to the next episode. But I was wrong - all episodes after that pretty much flowed together well. I do wish they had left out the unexpected pregnancy because there’s no getting away from that.
Looking forward to season 2.
