This film started with such promise. Brilliant setting and cast, with so many potential ways to develop the story and characters. Instead they wrapped it into the odd vampire/ cannibal theme. I get there was a symbolic story about the class system in there but cannibalism, really?? Unnecessary gore for gore's sake, and lazy screenwriting. Such a sabotage of a film that started so compellingly.

Spoiler alert*** The film started with such promise, due to the setting and brilliant actresses. It twisted and turned with suspense and then ended abruptly, leaving unanswered questions and loose ends. For how much of it was Hathaway a psychopath? Was it all the way through or did she just tip last minute? How many of the unfortunate misunderstandings were actually genuinely contrived or accidental? It is sudden and unclear at the end. Possibly Hathaway was so worn down by the hostile treatment from others and her own grief, that she just flipped and committed the murders completely spontaneously and they were never planned. It's worth one watch but be prepared for unresolved questions!
