Although I am an Austen fan I was not familiar with this particular book. I found the film completely absorbing. The subtle nuances of script and facial expressions are faultless. Bill Nighy and Miranda Hart steal every scene they appear in. The direction of the characters movements is akin to a well choreographed ballet and the scenery and costumes are stunningly beautiful. I will be seeing it a second time, maybe even a third.

Everyone should watch this film. It deserves a much wider audience, a shame it’s not on general release. The arrogance of big businesses even when faced with the evidence is appalling. John Depp gives arguably his best performance ever and deserves Academy Award for his role as Eugene Smith
