Honestly this is one of the strangest cases of a movie I've seen in a while, because I can't really decide whether it was good or not. I was told that fans really loved this version of Lex, but honestly I think people are just happy that he's not Jessie Eisenberg because he's not a good character. Without any spoilers, the villain's plan is nonsensical. Well, I say plan, but it's really multiple plans that don't actually connect to each other that well. Each plan seems to contradict the other, and there's an entire foreign war plot that becomes genuinely irrelevant to Luthor's plan to defeat Superman within the first 10-15 minutes of the movie but drags on throughout the rest of the run time. The movie has genuinely the most poorly written plot I've ever seen in a Superhero movie. Next up, the characters are incredibly flat and the movie really doesn't seem to understand Superman, Lex Luthor, or really any of the various DC characters beyond what they are at face value. Now, don't get me wrong, the characters are all very entertaining (especially my goat Mr. Terrific), but that's honestly mostly due to the absolutely phenomenal acting. All the negatives aside, the movie is very funny, and I honestly didn't expect to find it as entertaining as I did. I've never been a fan of Krypto the Superdog, but I was surprised to find myself actually enjoying the screen time Krypto had. As a dog owner, this is the most accurate depiction of owning a dog I have ever seen in a movie. The movie was entertaining, and I enjoyed watching it, but the story it's trying to tell is really bad and the characters are incredibly one note.
