Very many dictators that imprison, torture and kill their own citizens should read this book. It reflects what happened in Germany in the 30s (emergency powers), but equally reflects contemporary situations in Ukraine, Sudan, Israel/Gaza, etc.
It's rare these situations are reflected in the eyes of a mother trying to hold her life and family together.
It made me cry...
