Great story. Great cast. Hideous adaptation.

Awesome story telling that does everything to such a high standard it is almost improbable. I have no idea who the creative forces are behind it (but will investigate to find out) but whoever they are they have brought together a world, characters, script, art-style, direction, plot, voice-acting, music, animation and dramatic framing/pacing to form the most unexpected and engaging TV I have seen in years. I lost count of the number I sat back stunned or wiped a tear from my eye and each time it was for a different element of the production. Spellbinding and unforgettable.

Dull as ditchwater. None of the wonder or atmosphere of the film. Clichéd paint-by-numbers plot. A wasted opportunity given the richness and possibility of the source material.

Great film, grounded and emotionally engaging with some great acting all round.
