My 3 boys thought it was odd. My 12 year old daughter thought it was fine. As a parent, I didn't appreciate the movie seemingly supporting her lying to her parents, shouting at her mom "I LIKE gyrating" (Seriously?? This is a kids show), or the mom saying "I'll love you more the further you go." What? How about unconditional love vs encouraging rebellion. Of course it's normal at 13 to push boundaries, find a sense of self, etc, and many of the issues in the movie could have been resolved with honest communication, but I didn't like the edge it was pushing/supporting. We all have quirks and I'm all about being yourself, but the movie makes it sound like standards are out the door, "just try" letting out your hidden parts. I believe in human improvement...growth...but this movie seems to encourage pride in things that may not be ok.
