Amadeus Schmidgall

The beginning was amazing! Great location and set of the story. Then the entire attention shifts to a boys emotional connection to his mother?!?! Why present all the details of the island and the tied when it has no relevance to the movie? I understand that this was a introduction to a second part but the movies story writing structure is horrible! Setting great expectations and then changing the focus of the stories locations and characters is just bad writing and directing!
