It’s funny at times. I like a lot of the political guests. However, the recent claims of “ we don’t solve political problems with violence in America” is not true. There is a long history of political violence here in America and we have sown it throughout the world. Kissinger was one of the worst advocates for political violence and ushered in one of the most violent coups in history in Chile. We continue to ignore the political violence of Israel. No one speaks of the horror we are responsible for there. Reuters is the only American outlet actively reporting on the situation in Gaza for civilians. No food or clean water. I have seen the haunting faces of starving infants and to know my leaders could end this atrocity like Reagan did is breaking my heart. I don’t even like Reagan. But in August 1982, when Israeli forces advanced beyond southern Lebanon and began shelling the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) in Beirut, Reagan responded with an angry call to Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, demanding a halt to the operation. This succeeded. He saved journalists from being obliterated by Israel who didn’t want their violent attacks being reported. We have no responsible statesmen or women. Just a lot of meaningless platitudes. If we don’t solve our problems with political violence, then we should act like a country that is against it everywhere.
