Firstly, i love a good hero movie. I didn't like the opening of this Superman, and well, it just got messier from there. You have to bare with a lot of nonsensical stuff, more so than most hero movies. Superman isn't super, then he is, then he isn't, then the villain is, then they aren't. Very over the top concepts across the board and some real unsmart moments on superman's part, I mean he really seemed kinda not smart at the beginning, a complete departure from his comic character. Then JG started throwing everything at the wall to see what would stick. So many characters all a sudden. I couldn't even pay attention after a while it was so bizarre. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but this was just pure nonsense doubling down on more nonsense. There was a lot of emotion and action tho, like overacting, over the top destruction, thousands of people would have died and not one mention of that. "Forget them, look over here! I saved one person." I can't think of anything to compare it to besides one of the DC cartoon movies where the writers rush a ton of charaters out and none of them are as great as they are on their own, you know what i mean? ;) I didn't like it more than I liked it. I don't think the emotion was good, it felt fake. JG and Hollywood is over thinking this. They're throwing crap at the screen and seeing what sticks. Maybe kids will like it, but i think it's way to confusing of concepts for kids and they would be bored from start to finish. And this whole thing about kindness and humanity that's being talked about, well that's always been Superman's calling card, and I think it was much better represented in many older adaptations than it was here. The humble humanity wasn't really there. You can see it in the trailer. Superman complaining about just trying to help people and not being appreciated, like self-righteousness, not a good look.
