This is a very slow moving documentary - I'm on episode 1 and 40 minutes into watching it and it just keeps repeating the same information repeatedly among multiple women who had the Dutch guy donate his sperm. There is some footage of his vlogging and he seems to something of an uniformed egomaniac, sort of a wing nut who wants to be an aspiring cult leader - but since nobody has joined his cult - that probably was his motivation to lie to all the women and donate his sperm to 1000 different people. He had not broken any laws - he never charged money - it was an "ego trip" for him to father 1000 children.
It was so boring after 50 minutes on episode 1 I quit watching. There are 3 episodes. If it was edited more professionally, I think the story could have been reduced to just 1 episode. I mean, really HOW MANY times can the viewer listen to the same story over and over from multiple women "I am a lesbian and wanted a baby so I chose a sperm donor" and "My husband is infertile and I want a baby" OK, I get it. Too many long clips of the Dutch guys dumb vlog - there was one segment where he was outdoors in the sunshine and his long curly hair was blowing around in the wind and he gave an inane lecture as a "healthy hair expert" - if you want healthy good hair, you need to be out in the sunshine every day. um, really? I could not figure out what this guy does to support himself - trust fund? he does not appear to have a job but travels around the world - he never sold his sperm.
I would NEVER just accept sperm from some stranger online who meets with his little plastic container of his sperm. If the donor had STD it could infect the woman - also no screening for genetic diseases - heck, just pay the money and go to a reputable fertility clinic - or ask a good friend who you know to donate their sperm!
I thought it was hypocritical when all these outraged women were interviewed and they felt they had been betrayed by the Dutch guy. What the heck did they expect from some stranger online who they met once?
Back in the mid 1990s there was a fertility specialist doctor in the Washington DC area who was using his OWN sperm to impregnate all his patients! This went on for decades. The doctor was convinced he was a "genius" and again - it was an ego trip. His license to practice medicine was revoked and he went to prison for fraud. I don't remember how many children he fathered - but it was many hundreds. All in the same metropolitan Washington DC area - I think he had infertile patients in Northern Virginia, DC and suburban Maryland - so there were hundreds of his descendents all living within a 75 mile radius of each other.
