The first season was a good apocalyptic story, and season 2 was okay, but season 3 is ridiculous. They cross the Rocky Mountains in a single day (half of it on foot), get from Colorado to the Pacific Coast in a couple more, travel by boat to Alaska in a day or two, etc... All to find a tree buried and frozen in a cave whose sap contained a virus that wipes out humanity. Then magically the virus is ended with Gus mingling blood with the sap and burning this one tree. Everyone is cured instantly. Jep who was stabbed is up and running. A baby is born in the cold Alaska winter snow. Everyone has a change of heart. The only logical event in this season is mankind's extinction. Season 3 is a great example of hack writing. It is a tragic and terrible ending to this once good series.
