This is perhaps the worst book that I have ever read cover to cover. I only completed reading it, because it is our book club’s read this month. I have never seen so many fecal references in such a short space. People defecate and urinate-older people with less certainty and control. Everyone has difficult histories and assorted tragedies. Yes, life is weird, people are strange and “things have changed”. Bob Dylan says it all much better in a three minute song with four chords. Aging is amazing and strange-so what? What insights does the author offer- absolutely none. Yes, she has a talent for describing people and situations—so? I do not understand why this book comes so highly recommended. These are very. Troubling times and there is a real need for useful perceptions. This book contained very few, if any.
