An excellent book chronicling the circumstances leading up to the first black president of the US and the events that transpired during his first term. While movies and other media cover the major happenings, often overlooked are the everyday bureaucratic struggles even the presidents face while forging their legacy. The hard decisions Obama had to make with less than desirable amount of data, the hoops his administration had to jump through to advance its agenda are all detailed in a very descriptive manner. Even when it comes to major operations such as the killing of Osama Bin Laden, we get to read a point of view from a person who was not only inside the government but also who ordered the raid. The thought processes and the compromises decision-makers face during such intense missions are well explained. I recommend this book to anyone interested in American politics, history or leadership.
