I've gone back to the source material and now realize what a travesty this screenplay has become from the original material.
If this is how works will be adapted for today's Millenial and Gen Z audience, I don't want to watch it. Changing characters to push social agendas, the gratuitous addition of vulgarity when it isn't required, etc. While the rewritten high-level plot was interesting, the character dialog was juvenile and not thought-provoking.
As a society, we've become inundated with many movies and TV shows that, during the 70s and 80s, would have never made it onto the big screen or prime-time television. The content had to meet a specific standard of excellence since a bad show or movie would lose money. If people are content with mediocre entertainment, this is all we will get going forward.
I can't stomach any more of this show.
