This is not a 5 star show. Another Disney fail as bad as the movies with Rey Skywalker, I have a hard time believing a show of this quality could be released after one as good as The Mandalorian. Amandla Stenberg does not captivate the audience and comes off as quite dull of an actress especially when portraying Mae. The dialogue of the show also comes off as quite dull and simple minded.
The visuals of the series do not even compare to the Anakin Skywalker series of the 2000’s. Seeing coruscant the first time in this show was a disappointment and quite simply makes me believe Disney is quite lazy and uncreative in the scenery of the show. Jedi robes are meant to protect them in severe weather conditions yet are nearly see through in the show when seen with light behind them.
The Jedi Master second to die seemingly commits suicide, which isn’t uncommon in some severe cases in the Star Wars trilogy. Having an impenetrable force shield surrounding him blocking any physical attacks and being mentioned he hasn’t spoken in 10 years yet gives himself up entirely when offered a vile of poison and speaks to Mae? All of this indicates the poor imagination and creativity of Disney.
After watching the first two episodes of the series I cannot decide wether or not is worth the time. As an avid Star Wars fan I will continue to watch the series as I am curious about the lore but I will watch with a grain of salt as it does not strike me as captivating nor creative. The audience can easily assume in which direction the series will go in.
The only reason why this review isn’t a 1 star is the combat in the show. The Jedi masters move quick and decisively and only use their saber when absolutely necessary but the acolyte uses cheap tricks to murder Jedi masters as she can’t compare to them in single combat or use of the force.
Do better Disney
