The movie itself I thought was pretty great though I went into it with low expectations. Turned out to be a good watch. Delicately crafted build of tension, fear, and confusion. The whole movie is a slow realization but it happens at a heart pumping pace.
Robert’s character is a 40ish upper class white woman. She is supposed to be hate-able. Sort of a “karen” but redeems herself a bit later, the husband character I didn’t totally buy at first he seemed a little too submissive at first but he makes more sense later in the movie. I forget who the actor is that plays the homeowner but his performance was perfect, how he looks like he’s trying to keep it together but the fear in his eyes give him away. He was maybe a little too sexy to be realistic but I didn’t mind. The kids are all a little insufferable but not so much so that it makes it unwatchable, sort of realistic actually. The little girl gives Dakota Fanning vibes. Without any spoilers I’ll say the ending is gonna frustrate some people but it tracks with imitating reality, and the timing is good, it’s easy to see what comes next i dont think it needed anything else.
Loved the random huge artworks in the background and the opening credit sequence as well from a design standpoint. Simple and effective,
