What a juicy tale. Circe, a young goddess is scorned and rejected by her great family of the Sun, and yet in her quest to find her own identity, she has honed the power of her sorcery, learned to dabble with those who try to harm her, and won the favor of one of the greatest warriors and the most venerated and feared god. Reckless with love as a youngster, she loves with an innocence and later matures to sacrifice herself to protect those she loves. Bound to her island and only changed by those who choose to pass by, she yearns to be free, to have the freedom to find herself. A question that has lingered on her conscience for thousands of years is whether she would have the courage to drink her own potion to turn herself into her true form. She yearns for her true identify but is afraid of it; she has made herself her own woman but yearns for the love who will listen and accept her life stories.

This movie is really enjoyable to watch because it takes the audience through so many different emotions. Some parts are funny, some are dark, some scary and suspenseful, some joyous and filled with hope. It’s also thought provoking. There’s symbolism in the movie that ties the entire plot. And the plot brings out many facets of the hard-to-escape reality of classicism in society. Would watch again (though the ending is heartbreaking) and would definitely recommend!
