Many more brains than 95% of movies its type. Much of the technology is here already or only a few years away. The purpose is to raise many questions not only about technology but about America’s role in this fracturing world and about individual morality. Very good acting for a sci-fi movie. A major plus is that the two leading, complex roles are played by black actors. Negative reviews are by people who can’t read between the lines and don’t know what good sci-fi is about.

One rule of honest science fiction is that you try not to make obvious major scientific blunders. A moon of Jupiter we haven’t found yet that’s safely habitable by humans without protective gear? Preposterous! Other faux pax include a spacecraft surviving two major storms of meteorites without damaging the interior life support system. The movie ain’t the worst ever, but it thinks it’s a lot more groundbreaking and meaningful than it is. Let’s please stop spending millions of dollars creating movies without at least asking someone who is literate in science to review the script and remove the blatant scientific howlers.
