Having the main character being a black female and the setting partially in Africa, makes the book quite different from the standard Cold War male orientated spy book. However, I didn't find the book particularly well written in terms of the characters, their motives and their believability. In a few places, the characters and their actions were jarring. The main 'baddie' is clearly a lunatic, yet the cop father and FBI daughters seem blind to it.
