Love it, and I lived through it, born in LA in 1950. I remember being in the backyard in Orange, California, listening to good vibrations and thanking Holy shit that is great. I had never realized that the Wilson boys had an asshole of a father until I read this book. It talks about lots of other acts too like the doors and Jan and Dean, really everything of 60s LA music.
Brian Wilson is the best composer we’ve had in a long time, and I don’t know that there will ever be a better one. I saw him once in the 70s, shooting baskets in Laguna Beach at the public courts, pretty much out of his mind.
The music of the 60s took me in and turned me into a songwriter myself. I moved to Nashville in 1980 and had a big career in the 90s. So this book tells the story of my life too. Even if it doesn’t tell the story of yours, you oughta read it
