It's a good show that balances the heavy tone really well, it's a bit of a slow burn but I actually really like that about it. These iterations of the classic batman characters feel more grounded and humanized. Batman is more cold, distant and alien than ever but there's a reason to it that gets explained as the story goes on. I also like how this show can be enjoyed by people of all ages but it also doesn't treat it's potential younger viewers as if they are dumb and can't understand more serious topics.
P.s) I'm also seeing a lot of hate getting thrown at the show simply for the inclusion of race swapped characters and while I understand the whole " why not create new characters instead of swapping old ones" what I don't get is people's lack of ability to understand that this is a different interpretation and take on the batman mythos. The whole it's not historically accurate to the 1940s argument doesn't work for me either because this is an alternate fictitious world that never said anything about adhering to the horrendous social norms of yesterday and is simply using the time period to set an aesthetic. It's really not that deep
