The ONLY reason I give it the second star is because the movie was funny. But if you read the books you would know that as much as there is humor in them there is also a deep connect, true feelings and struggles. I don't even know where to begin. Ok so first abbys feelings about her father and being lucky 13. In the book it's a real problem for her. She is running away from her father she despises him. The movie made it seem like they were still ok and the fact that she was texting him I love and miss you bothered me. The poker night at Travis house it was all wrong and his reaction and hers were ruined in the movie. Again the film lacked true emotion. Travis is royally screwed up after losing his mom but in the movie he's so nonchalant about her passing. I feel like they rushed so much in this film. The days she stayed at his apartment, her birthday party the significance of the fraternity. The fire. And why they all went to Vegas. I understand movies cannot have every precious detail, but I think after movies were done well I read the series and still love how the movies came out. But this had the potential to be held in the same regard and they dropped the ball. It seemed more of a romantic comedy then what it should have been. I don't mind the actors and they jad the potential to really bring out the characters they were playing. I did enjoy the after cameos (for those of you who don't know they were made by the same production company voltage). But I feel like they took more care in the cameos then really telling Travis and abbys story individually and together. I'm so upset woth this movie. If it wasn't an adaptation of a book ot would have been fine, but to know the true story the feelings the trials they faced in the book and then to watch this silly romcom portray it was disappointing and a disgrace to the writer of the book. Honestly if you haven't read them yet watch the movie first then read them because if you don't know their story the movie may be enjoyable. So much potential thrown away when they had an amazing script already written. So many important parts cut.....Thanksgiving was one of my favorite parts of the book. And lastly Parker. He is such a tool on the movie. IN the books he is not scared of Travis, he stands up to him. The part where he and Abby are in the care making out and Travis sees them is a great part of the book. They had the potential to really make this amazing. I'm so disappointed 😞
