The Place Beyond the Pines is a wonderfully written and almost perfectly executed movie. It tells an ordinary story in an extraordinary manner, which is what art should be. The movie is not trying to preach, nor does it insist upon itself like "The Godfather" (That's a "Family Guy" pun by the way haha). Personally, I believe a little moment should have been given to the second protagonist (there are 3 protagonists) at the beginning of the movie, so we just don't get jarred by the introduction of this new person we are now meant to be feeling something towards. Photography is great, music, everything. It's a solid film. I'll probably be doing something like this in the future.

Challenges polite society and morality, which is good. Highly pornographic, which, if that is the intent, okay; and unlike many others think, I believe all the sex and whoring is pivotal to the plot. Unsettling to a degree, which is ...unsettling haha. All the elements of film like photography, screenplay, costume are excellently handled; except the soundtrack, which is off-putting at times. The actors also delivered excellently. I loved seeing Margaret Qualley as Felicity. However, the ending is not so satisfying. It seemed rushed, unlikely, and pointless. This is the first film I'm seeing from Lanthimos, but I'll check the others out because of this. He is a most daring director. You should watch it.
