It is indeed very obvious that the protagonist Julie is written from a male perspective. Throughout the whole novel the writter tries so hard to portray Julie as "im not like other girls I'm different" personality.
The protagonist is annoying so annoying that her actions get to the nerves of reader. She is so self centred she made her boyfriend's death all about her.
The writter definitely failed to portray a true woman character or personality . He was just trying to follow the stereotypical character of American teenager which is far away from reality .
