Bad writing and largely subpar acting. Sons fans will always be attracted to the universe it takes place in but so much time was spent outside the MC in early seasons of Mayans that most of the club members are characters that it’s hard to care about. Not to mention the lack of motorcycles in a show about a motorcycle club!
