Excellent book. Fast paced. Convincing characterisations. Interesting to the end. Something this dark shouldn't be this funny but it is.
However, I used the audio book version (Clipper) and it was really spoiled by the reader's complete inability to do a Geordie accent. (Or a Sunderland one, come to that. Or indeed Northern Irish). It was actually painful to listen to. Luckily most of the protagonists are Scottish or I don't think I could have completed it.
If you can't do an accent properly, don't do it at all! Please! Or employ more than one reader if you think the accent matters that much. (Or a more skillful one).
