I never write reviews, but I love the Alvin and the Chipmunks movies, and the amount of film inaccuracies in this are enough to drive me insane and hate this show.
First off, why are Alvin's eyes blue when they have been brown for four movies? Did the creators just not realize they were brown, not blue like Brittany's or Simon's?
The design of the chipmunks is horrible, they look more like deformed miniature, furry children than animals like they always did in the movies.
I also hate how they have to make Dave yell "Alvinnn!" at some point in each episode, merely for the show's namesake of "ALVINNN!!!" Especially when Dave looks nor sounds nothing like he does in the movies, it's really annoying to hear over and over. In the movies it's kind of funny, because he's totally exasperated with the amount of trouble his 'chipmunk son' gets into. But in this show, this Dave totally lacks the emotion that Jason Lee was able to put into it in the films, which honestly sucks. They couldn't at least find a guy who somewhat sounded like him?
The plots are silly and tired, and I feel like they only make Alvin get into excessive mischief just to stress the fact that getting into trouble is a part of his nature, rather than it being compelling or interesting to watch.
I just wish this show could be a bit more like the movie films we all know and love, rather than being drastically different to the extent that it makes you wonder if its creators even tried. I understand that it's difficult to make a show that can completely serve as a proper continuation or follow up to a movie series, especially given they were created by different people. But like I said, there are simple inaccuracies that just don't make sense as to why they're there, unless the makers of this show never saw the movies or something.
