Since everyone else is giving horrible reviews because their english teacher had them read it in class, I want to share my option and knowledge of this book. The author based this book off of the Greek mythology story 'the Odyssey', but she wanted her own story to have a lesson for readers to learn. 'Summer of the Mariposas' is mostly about trust and teamwork between Odilia and her 4 sisters. Their whole journey is about finding their father. Now. My opinion about this book - we are on chapter 11 currently, and so far, I love the book! It's really interesting to me and I love how everything is described in the perfect way where I can picture every scene in my mind without a problem. I'm not a huge reading fan, but this is definitely one of my favorites. To Mrs. McCall: thank you for this book, and sorry for all these kids giving you horrible reviews because they don't like english class.
