Most of the reviews I have seen are positive, and those that are negative theme to be of the “woke nonsense, blah blah blah” variety. I actually appreciated the black perspective parts of the novel and learned a lot about the specific acts of racism in New York’s history. No issue with that. For me, however the plot was a bit cartoonish. I’m not sure that cartoony super villainry is necessarily where ordinary - and more believable villainry would do.
