A great way to determine if a book is good is to see how stupid the people who gave it 1 star reviews are. This book is amazing. I read a ton of the 1 star reviews and it seems that a lot of people didn’t expect a book about world war 2 to be depressing. I genuinely want someone to explain how people can be that dumb. Also they say it doesn’t have any action, yet if you read the back of the book you would know that it is more of a psychological book than an action book. They also think it should have a moral, a book loosely based on the authors personal experience, and it should have a moral. Do people not understand how realistic stories work? Real life doesn’t have morals, there doesn’t need to be an important lesson in everything. This story is sad and depressing and horrible, but so is every other book about war, but it’s also thought provoking and well written and meaningful.
