Ridley's last two Alien movies were boring and felt contrived, especially Prometheus. I don't mind deep, but deep or deep's sake is what Ridley's last two films felt like to me, and I'm far more interested in the telling of a compelling story. Part of the problem is that much of the mystery is gone now. This is one of the quintessential problems with prequels and expanding a narratives universe in my opinion. If the back story isn't compelling and delivered in a way that rivals or surpasses the initial story, it can ruin the entire narrative. We see that with both Star Wars and the Predator movies also. For instance, "Solo" bored me to tears. It's not that it was a terrible movie, but it ruined all of Han's mystery and charm and it was boring. They should have not made it an origin story, and instead made it more of an adventure across the galaxy story. In fact, a Solo series would have been better to do than a movie... but I digress. In short... the last two Alien Movies Sucked!
