This movie stunk. It is based on the broadest of ideas from the original book and that is about it. EVERYTHING but the basic plot from the Book was changed. Nickelodeon did what they could to make this like a magical Willy Wonka and it just Did. Not. Work. Or make a lick of sense.
You MIGHT enjoy (I use that word lightly) this movie more if you had never read the book, but even then it’s so disjointed. You’ll think “where did Hansel and Gretel come from and why is Gretel 40 years old with a bow and arrow?!” Or “ Mother Goose usually wears a blue bonnet- but today she has on Ninja gear.” I mean what in the world?!?!
Frankenstein... not in the book
Werewolf.... not in the book
Charlottes Web.... not in the book
Virtual reality.... not in the book
Magic.... not in the book
Wicked Witch of the West... not in the book
Humpty Dumpty....not in the book.
Are you seeing a pattern? There were balloons-that was in the book so there’s that. Weeee :/
Why try to craft a movie from a book if you are going to erase 95% of the book’s content? Don’t waste your time, I beg you. My kids and myself actually boo-ed at the TV. I’m very curious as to why Grabenstein, the author of the wonderful book, okay-ed this production. 🤔
I recommend the book though!
