While the story of Abraham and Sarah is heartfelt and the actors did a great job in displaying their emotions, I am giving this movie only 1 star. The reason? I am sick and tired of women being abused by men and the men calling it of God. Enough!
This is an emotional story with the emphasis on the sacrifice of Isaac ending with the comparison of God sacrificing His Son. And I did love that, but I still couldn't get passed the abuse of Sarah, the slave Hagar, or the women on the trail. Making it emotional makes it more real but not right. I don't know how you tell this story without those hard things.
Although the director made a good effort in addressing these issues I felt sick inside about two thirds the way through. If we keep normalizing these abuses then there are cultures that will continue to repeat them.
