Just finished the movie and... wow! i have some thoughts. Alright so if you want the short version: if you're a pokemon fan, or you are a parent considering if your kid should watch this, go give it a try, im sure they would enjoy it. Okay now to my full opinion, now im gonna be biased with this, im a big Pokemon fan, so, im sure its not gonna be a suprise if i like this movie haha! Anyway, im gonna try to keep this as spoiler free as possible. In terms of story. Its a movie made for younger audiences so its not suprising that the story is gonna be on the easier side to understand, thats not to say its horrible, but its definitely nothing ground breaking, although thats not really what drove me to watch this in the first place. The pokemons! Im sure thats what most of us are here for, they are cool, ive known Pokemon since i was, well i dont know really, but i was young, and seeing the Pokemons that i love appear on the screen, that was really cool, and they made a lot of references to the game and the original animated show, thats another reason Pokemon fans would likely enjoy it, there were some things that i thought looked funny, although that problem is more with just the medium of CGI than any design problem (which i think they did fantastic on). The characters. They were simple, as ive said before, this is for a younger audience so they were easy to understand, they were a tad unrealistic, some characters (pikachu) were cracking jokes where if anyone was actually in the situation they were in they would be screaming their lungs out, but it was pretty funny. All in all, good show for fans of Pokemon, more on the lighter side for everything but thats not to say its necessarily a bad thing, im not a young boy anymore but if i were im sure i would give this a 10 star rating if i could, but otherwise, as an older person i can still see the appeal it has on Pokemon fans like me.
