Went to watch this movie thinking it was about the classic ethical dilemma of cloning, with perhaps some sci fi world exploration. That’s not what this movie is. If you want to have your face shoved in the most uncreative, water is wet ethical and political themes for two hours this movie is for you. This movie has an amazing concept and yet the entire film is about space Trump Hitler. This film is so lazy with its delivery of the theme, the only media with more unsubtle messaging is Sesame Street, which would’ve been a better use of my time. It also tried to be funny and just wasn’t. Overall, I was not intrigued throughout the film. Other than Mickey, the only characters that I even had some semblance of an emotional connection to were the little aliens.
The only good things I can say about the movie is this; Robert Pattinson did an amazing job as Mickey and Mark Ruffalo made his rendition of Trump very insufferable, which I am sure he meant to do. If you want to see a film about Mark Ruffalo doing his trump impression for two hours, I’m sure you will love this, Otherwise save $10.
