The first few reviews sum this experience up well - it is at once a joy and a chore to play. There were moments when I wanted to give it up due to the load times and certain confusing or missing information - but once I discovered all of the systems there were moments that left a genuine smile on my face. Technical issues persist throughout but mostly it’s worth putting up with them. The tone of Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth was more on the mark with the Innsmouthers inciting genuine fear and tension. The atmosphere in this title still gets very high marks though.
