Honestly, this book doesn’t know what it’s trying to be. Is it a zombie story? Is it a story about family relationships? Is it a story about college boys, taking advantage of young teenage girls and the repercussions? I think this actually could be divided up into a number of different books and I’m not sure why it’s all put together in one! I listened to it as an audiobook and it was entertaining enough for me to do gardening. But if you’re expecting to be really interested in a focused story, this may not be for you.

I was really looking forward to reading this book, even though it seemed like it would have a very familiar theme. I hate to say that I found it to be rather ridiculous! A man comes to work as a professor at a university and instantly falls in love with his secretary! The secretary is instantly in love with him! Within two weeks, he’s asking her to marry him? The author should have considered that this is an entirely inappropriate relationship for someone entering job and who is in a position of power over his worker. If the author allowed the relationship to grow slowly overtime, it would be more believable and certainly more appropriate! This woman was battered by her husband and now she’s instantly falling in love with a man she doesn’t know? That is highly unadvisable and certainly not something any battered woman who may be a target reader should consider.
