I loved the movies with Sir Anthony Hopkins as well as some of the prequels. I came across this series by chance on Netflix. I am mezmerized by it. With only three seasons, I have to space them out so that the experience will last. I am drawn to this work by it's sheer intelligence, writing and acting. Everyone does a stellar job in their portrayals. Each episode is a new experience in pushing emotions, surprises and even longing when a certain character is not on that week.
People cringe when I tell them that I am watching because of the anticipated gore. But I don't see it as that. If it's at all possible it's presented as an integral part of the story and is of such a creative and unique fashion that I do not see it as either gory or gratuitous.
My thanks for an intelligent and exquisitely crafted tale of mystery, psychological twists and vivid characters.
