Tina Stevenson - Just a little tidbit of fun facts.
The actual prison where the movie was filmed is in No. Nevada.
It was one of the oldest prisons (opened in 1862) still operating in the United States, the prison was closed in May 2012 because of the cost to run such an old facility.
The other state prison in No. Nevada still works with the BLM and the inmates continue to train wild horses and burros to make them available for adoption to the public. The program holds 3-4 adoptions each year.
The second program run at the facility is Pups on Parole - the inmates work with dogs from the Nevada Humane Society to overcome behavior challenges so they can later be placed for adoption.
Maybe more information than you wanted...just wanted to share that in fact the story in the film does highlight current and on going training of wild horses and burros.
