This will be the most honest review I’ve ever made. I took one glance at this game and thought the gameplay footage looked incredibly outdated, and WACK. I was genuinely surprised by the reviews but still, I ignored trying this game or doing any further research. Well, it’s on sale for $6.24 usd in Nintendo shop and I just finished Cyberpunk and Made In Abyss recently so I needed a new game badly. I started with Hell Mode off the bat and within minutes, I was hooked. The controls are very comfortable and there’s a few dozen unique weapon upgrades you can acquire through each run. After realizing how hard it was, I dialed it down to regular and still found it challenging, but not the type that makes you want to give up, the type that makes you want to try again, over and over again. Each run gives you a handful of different currencies you can spend to upgrade various aspects that will assist you along the way, making the next run slightly easier. As people said, it’s a rewarding game, but not easy. I find all of the characters interesting as well, and the English voice actors absolutely nailed it with this game. The main character is portrayed as a “Chad” so pretty much anything he says is quite comical and well done too. I highly recommend trying this game if you’ve put it off. I will definitely be buying Hades 2 now. I’d give Hades at least a solid 9.0, at least. It’s hard to compare it to other games because I don’t play ‘roguelites’ but it is a damn fine game.
