Gets more ludicrous every episode. Unintentionally funny

Disappointingly limp adaptation of a fantastic novel. Leaving aside some jarring casting, particularly that of the Mishka character, the series strikes the wrong tone and takes the joy and pleasure from the story. Ewan McGregor, usually an engaging screen presence, is muted as the Count, as if he is not sure how to play him. The verve the elan, the dash and the witty dialogue of the Count have gone missing . The best actor and most believable character is that of Osip of the security services played by Johnny Harris. The series is not a bad one, but for me it’s just ok. I have watched 7 of the 8 episodes.
