I walked in thinking it would be a funny nostalgic movie. I wasn’t expecting a satirical take on capitalism while utilising sarcasm to point out how flawed the patriacal society is while also commenting on the irony of ‘women empowering’ corporations run by exclusively men. Barbie ALSO directly made fun of the greediness of corporations and pointed out the standards women are held to are unrealistic and unobtainable. This film was insane, it would give you an awe inspiring monologue and then slap you with a quip about fashion. I also loved the ending, the way everything wrapped up really strayed away from cliches such as romance or the ‘hero saves all’. I recommend this movie to everyone of all ages. It’s hysterical and insightful. 10/10
