This book is exactly what it says it is. Ugly and wonderful. I never write reviews for books, but when I saw how many one star reviews this book had I had to. This book describes a relationship between a 25 year old man and a 13/14 year old girl. The relationship is extremely unnerving, and there are pieces of pedophilia. I resent the notion that the entire book promotes or romanticizes pedophilia; that's simple not true. This book lays out an example of what pedophilia looks like and I think that is a powerful thing. It's not something we talk about as a society. Young people don't always know what that looks like; this book paints a good picture. There are just so many other components to why this book is mentally taxing to read that it is unfair to call it "promoting pedophilia" and move on. This book is definitely a conversation to be had. I would recommend it to anyone who has the mental/ emotional capacity to think about challenging topics. I really enjoyed reading it, and I will be thinking about it for a while, and isn't that what you want in a book?
