The premise of the show is religion. Some of the characters are more easily liked than others. Kari to me was the least likeable character and the least likely to be believable to some extent. Each sibling has their own issues. The Season 3 cliff hanger is over dramatic in a sense that the character involved now faces a very difficult future. The show really is an evening soap opera based on religion. I don't mind the biblical references, however the show might be more broadly attractive with less focus on religion but still focused on compassion, kindness and patience, which really are the three things each episode appears to be teaching the viewer. Overall the best actors in the series are Massy McLain (Ashley) and Emily Peterson (Brooke), both give a nuanced, not over the top performance.
