Being a fan of the books, I wanted to love this, but it just isn't well done at all. Just a bad adaptation. They took one of the epic stories of our time and needlessly jacked it up. Poor choices in changing elements of the story. There is absolutely no discernable reason for any of the story changes, and they invariably detract from the content. Why did Perrin need a pregnant girlfriend that he accidently kills? His being shy and awkward with women made for a more humorous and endearing character in the books. Matt having a dysfunctional family accomplished what? What was the point of Matt refusing to go into the waygate? Horrible casting decisions outside of Moiraine (she's spot on) and maybe Matt. Hopefully, they do a better job with season two.
