Review is based on the Nintendo Switch version.
It’s a pretty straight forward, class-based third person shooter, but it’s a lot of fun!
Obviously a bit of a budget title, but there aren’t any huge flaws or crashes and bugs or anything like that, at least as far as I’ve experienced.
There are twelve characters, six on each team, and each character has one of six specialized classes, with both teams having one of each class: Soldier, Heavy Striker, Ninja, Support, Havoc, and Skirmisher, with each class being different enough in play style to make them worth exploring and vary the game to a decent degree (should I use the word “each” more, or what?).
It sort of breaks down to, three more-or-less “offense” oriented classes, and three more-or-less “defensive” oriented classes, although each are fully capable of both, obviously.
It doesn’t seem too difficult to grasp, but there is a “Knowing is Half The Battle” section that explains the different classes and their best general implementation. That’s also where you’ll find the character descriptions and the various collectibles and videos you’ve unlocked.
It’s fairly streamlined but I’ve been having a blast, so far!
If you like G.I. Joe, it’s worth checking out!
If you like third-person shooters that aren’t strictly cover-based, it’s worth checking out!
Buy it so the next game has an even bigger budget!
Yooooooo Joe!
