Protagonist was immature, foolish from the beginning lacking any insight or depth to her character. Hardly passed up any character development. I had a difficult time picturing specific details in the book such as, when mentioning the pirate ships and the disks working as intervention to the shadow soldiers. Most parts were tedious and was yet still anxious to get a move on to the next important scene. The darkling was practically my only favorite character, apart that he made more sense then anyone else, knowing fully well that light would bring balance to his power which is darkness. Alina continues to play the annoying role of martyr/victim all while everyone and the "commoners" suffer from her retardation. Darkling still favors Alina, not because of her power but her truest self that which is the Light! And it makes sense well hmm, the darkness should be the one to balance the light and vice versa like Ying Yan. Ah turds...I was hoping she would stay with the darkling romantic storyline and let this story turn different but I guess not. Still going to the third book to see how it all turns ..probably won't meet the romantic expectations with the darkling anymore. Still wish they be together though 🙃
